Our team consists of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), rescue divers, and specialized rescue personnel who work side by side to provide professional care in moments of crisis. Whether it’s providing first response medical aid, performing complex vehicle extrications, or conducting water rescues and dive operations, our members bring skill, experience, and compassion to every call.
We’re proud to serve Halifax County and surrounding communities, not only by responding to emergencies, but also through public safety education, training, and community outreach. At its heart, Roanoke Valley Rescue Squad is more than just an emergency service—it’s a family of volunteers dedicated to saving lives and making a difference every single day.
When an emergency strikes, every second matters. Our certified EMTs and medical responders provide prompt, professional care at the scene and during transport to medical facilities. From motor vehicle accidents to sudden illnesses, our EMS team delivers skilled pre-hospital treatment with compassion and respect.

Our heavy rescue team is trained to respond to the most challenging and complex emergencies. Using advanced tools and specialized techniques, we perform vehicle extrications and other heavy rescue situations when needed. These responders are the ones who run toward danger when others cannot.
Halifax County’s rivers and lakes are vital to our community — but they can also be dangerous. Our water rescue and dive team is trained for swiftwater, flood, and underwater recovery operations. Equipped with boats, dive gear, and years of experience, we respond quickly to ensure the safety of everyone on and around the water.

Beyond emergency response, we are dedicated to building a stronger, safer community. Our members participate in public demonstrations, CPR classes, and safety education programs, helping to prepare citizens to act confidently in times of crisis.
